Sun rays coming from the south and the west cast the most solar heat on a home. In the summer this heat can drastically increase the cost of cooling your house. Providing shade to the southern and western portion of your home saves energy, especially if there are windows in that part of the house. Tip: Awnings, blinds, shades, window tint, and curtains all block the sun and reduce the amount the interior of your home is heated. This can mean big savings, especially in summer months.
